Swiss beatmaker Chief delivers “Drone Beats & Electric Waves”, a collection of haunting and bewitching instrumentals crafted specifically for this project. The album showcases Chief’s technical deftness while letting musicality take the front seat, and fills the gap between classic beatmaking and forward thinking production.

Better known for his collaborative works with various rappers and singers, Chief previously produced for artists such as Moka Only, John Robinson, Kissey Asplund, Dynas, Blu, Co$$, Les Nubians, Just Brea, Sene, or Abstract Rude to name but a few. He also entirely produced some albums, for example with rappers Kay Dee and Sene, and released his acclaimed debut album “Collabo Collection” in 2009, which was very positively greeted by both medias and fans.

“Drone Beats & Electric Waves” is not your average instrumental album. This is not a collection of old beats compiled to be sold as an album, instead it contains 23 brand new tracks manufactured particularly for this project, to fit together as a string of tracks that all stand on their own yet form a coherent sum of its parts, and a thoroughly enjoyable listen through and through. More than basic beats begging for a complementing artist, these instrumentals truly have a song format.

“Drone Beats & Electric Waves” exhibits a rich pallet of moods and atmospheres. From hybrid electric beats to mesmerizing urban soundscapes, from cloudy ambiences to sophisticated soulful monsters, the album showcases the moods and aptitudes of a forward-thinking producer capable of intelligently blending electronic influences together with hip-hop roots, to the best effect.
